New drink...

Fizzy water and OJ. I call it, "Whoa! J"

Also, announcement...I scored a new 905t driver. It has 400cc of ball
raping awesomeness. That's about 160 more than my 975d, which also is
capable of bringing the hurt. This thing is sweet though. Short par
4s are now consistently a driver and a wedge. And two days ago on a
par 5 I yoked the drive and almost knocked on my 2nd shot. It was
almost really really awesome...

The view from where I am at...

We made it home in one piece. The car is cleaned out, bikes put away,
dirty laundry still in our unpacked bags. No matter, I went and got a
haircut today, unloaded the car and am no focussing on being cool and
practicing pitting my feet up since it is over 100 degrees here
now... I will be heading out for the Tuesday night tronyang RR later
this afternoon. It should be about 106' when the race starts...
Awesome-O the robot right? Yeah... It was so awesome to see everyone
in saint yose this week. And we can't wait for Portland/Seattle two
weeks from now. I know, this is going to end up being an f-ing epic
June and July. Okay now, bye bye then.

San yose day 2

Went to get some San francisco treats this morning. I ate a pretty
awesome corned beef sandwich. Missed the parade but walked down
lombard street. It would be so wierd to live in such a tourist
landmark. But there are definately some baller homes there.

Itch and Scratch Race - sat in the entire time! Even when it got
crazy and all broken apart. I just had faith it would come back
together. And it did. All without me doing a lick of work!. And i
really did feel better than expected. Then I sprinted at the end for
mid-pack or something.

Scratch race for her - Alynda hung tough like one of the new kids and
managed another pack finish despite a huge crash that sent a girl to
the hospital. That's about it. But the big news is that she didn't
finish multiple laps down as her pre-race disclaimer had stated.
Shortly after, she helped the other girls raid the wine supply from
the VIP area...and you can imagine what a few glasses of wine do to a
dehydrated, skinny girl that hasn't eaten in seven hours.

Points race for him - pretty much the same as the scratchy goodness.
Tried to help grantman out whenever possible. Finished in the main
group, didn't get lapped, felt like trying something crazy before the
last sprint but never got the chance. You know what's really crazy
though? There were a lot of way classier track racers than myself
there, that also came out empty handed at this race. And that is with
preparations and strategy...So maybe I don't feel so bad for being
true pack fill. Though, I really should get a job at the buildabear
work shop as the guy that stuffs the bears. That was me tonight.
Stuffing bears at the back of the race. Or was I the stuffing that
goes in the bears? I don't know. I felt like cadel Evans though.
Someone should have yelled, "please do something!"

Still, despite sitting in like crazy, the weekend was much more
successful than I had expected, and both alyndar and myself were more
than capable of hanging with the speeds of bigtime races, i even had
enough energy to goof off at the back and make faces at Aaron and
Jen. Next time we'll have to roll the dice and try to do something I
think. But sadly, this weekend was not the final nail in the track
racing coffin as I had secretly hoped. I thought we would get so
incredibly schooled that we would hang up the track bikes until we
managed to live somewhere with a track again. Furthermore seeing old
friends even for a short time makes it even harder to walk away from
all this. So now unfortunately it looks like the next two weeks will
be spent doing everything possible to get fast before Portland and
Seattle. And who knows, maybe we'll make plans for this again next
year.

Okay then

San jose day 1

Kierin Fu - drew heat 1 which contained at least 6 guys that I knew were honest to god better sprinters than myself. And as fate would have it I was chosen for the number 8 start spot. So I was basically in the stands for the start of the race. No matter, I was shooting for last wheel anyway so I could get gangbusters precisely as the motor pulled off. Only thing was that this was no friday night cat 3 kierin. Instead everyone else took my idea and decided to get even MORE gang busters right as the motor pulled off. So, I did my thing, they did their thing and I finished in the same place I started. 8 of 8. No repecharge, no nothing, game over.

Miss & out - i maintain that i DID NOT REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT. I hate the miss and out more than anything and during online registration graciously opted out to save my $15 entry fee and what little self respect i have left. But some how i was on the start list!?!?! It appears that the grammar robot that they have working at sports base online (or whatever) took my extreme disdain for this event and signed me up probably out of spite, due to the many times ive cursed the online service charges for bike races (yet still pay them out of laziness). And since I am not only lazy but also a self proclaimed cheap bastard, I couldn't overlook a chance at a free couple of laps. So I was locked in...Unfortunately, I burnt all two of my matches on the 30+mph neutral laps. I just closed my eyes and pedalled as hard as I could until I heard the announcer start calling numbers that were pipped out the back of the race. That's when I knew the race had started and I wasn't first one to get elimidated. That's also when I knew I could sit up without total embarrasment (only mild embarrasment). For the record, I was third one called out...better than I expected! (but still unacceptable).

Womens points ras - I did not do this event, but my wifebot ALVND4 (this name requires a whole separate post) did. and after convincing her to ride a big ass gear and rock the disc wheel, she was banging bars and dodging dropped riders at the back of the pack. And the much anticipated end result: she finished in the middle of the pack and even got to sprint at the end! This was very much to her suprise as the motorpaced warm up three days prior had not gone swimmingly and overall confidence for any sort of bike riding activity was in the crapper. So in the words of Ali G, big up to Alynda! Respect.

Tomorrow morning it looks we are heading into San francisco for some very prideful activities, no joke, I hear there's a parade this weekend. Then it's back to the track for some hot, buttery, scratch and point racing. Can you picture me now? Just scratching and pointing. You decide what I should scratch and at whom I should point.

Okay bye.

Straight Pwned!

How funny is it when people say 'pwned'? Anyway, the san diego tune up race for San yose AVC is over. The motorpaced warmup nearly killed me. I had a 49x15 for warm up and didn't even try to finish it. Then the 10 lap point a lap shattered with me near the back. After that the 12 lap scratch went like this, I get behind a masters world champion type guy and hang on for dear life while he proceeds to murder it. Then I think, wow, he's way older than me so I should try to take the same pull. So I took my monster pull then quit the race... Final race was a hand holding challenge so I opted out and racedwith the b's. Caveat emptor... I soon learned the catch was that we started 3/4 lap down. :( I didn't make up that f-ing 3/4 lap, eventually having to swallow my pride and wait for the pack.

Next stop is San jose. Should be hard as balls and I'm well prepared to have my ass handed directly to me. Goal for the weekend though: get my name called out by the announcer. My best bet is the old 'jump the kierin field right as the moto pulls off'. My second best bet is taking a crap in corner 4 (I'd have to wear my number while doing this I think). Hopefully the kierin move works...
